ACTIVE SHOOTER

Active Shooter Training | SAFE SKILLS

An Active Shooter is defined as: "An individual (or individuals) actively engaged in an effort to wound or kill in a confined and populated area using firearms(s)." Other mass casualty incidents have included use of multiple weapon types, including but not limited to knives, vehicles, and/or bombs. Active Shooter incidents are becoming an increasing concern for individuals, and organizations have a duty of care to ensure their staff have the necessary information to protect themselves if faced with an incident.

Mass casualty situations, particularly active shooter scenarios, are unpredictable and evolve quickly. Typically, the immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to stop the shooting and mitigate harm to victims. Because mass casualty/active shooter situations are often over in less than 15 minutes, before law enforcement arrives on the scene, individuals must be prepared both mentally and physically to deal with an active shooter situation/mass casualty situation without the benefit of law enforcement support.
